How to enhance Oxygen level in our body
By now everyone knows that corona virus targets the respiratory system hence patient feels breathlessness, shortness of breath and restlessness. In some cases, oxygen level goes below the saturation point, so it is highly essential to enhance our breathing capacity for increase our oxygen level. Here are certain ways to enhance the oxygen level naturally.
1) Proning With increasing cases, few hospitals are facing deficiency of oxygen tanks. By now most of us are aware how to increase the oxygen level naturally by proning. This proning technique is being explained by lots of people but we have to understand this technique correctly. So lets understand how to do proning. In this proning technique, lie down on your stomach, take one pillow at the upper chest that is around here, take another pillow below your hips, not in your stomach don’t press your stomach, your diaphragm will not move otherwise, below hips and the third pillow below your knee, till lower part of your knees. So these are the areas where you have to put pillow. Some people need more pillow at the hip region carry on, some at leg region carry on. Depending upon your comfort but this is how you are supposed to lie down. In this position you can lie down from half an hour to 2 hours comfortably so lie down in this position and take simple easy breathing.
This position helps increasing blood circulation to your lung and really helps in oxygen absorption. In this position you can rest your head on your hand also what we call as makrasana in yoga this is one part in proning. The second part is lying on the sides. After this belly down position one should definitely on the side taking the support of your arm below your head this is called as dhradhasana position in yoga. So lie down on the sides fold your hands let your head rest on your hands and lie down in a relaxed way you legs can be a little bit folded need not be straight. Lie down comfortably in this position in dhradhasana position.
Dhradhasana should be done on both the sides, lie down on the right side for 30 mins to 2 hours an then lie down on the left side for 30 mins to 2 hours This is infact the best position to sleep during normal conditions also. These postures can help effected patients to enhance their oxygen level naturally and also keep the alveoli unit open but understand this is only an aid if the condition is severe proper medical help is required and understand those who are not effected should also practice all these things because it will increase their lung capacity. Apart from all these a normal person can do more of all these other exercises which we have mentioned.
2) Breathing exercises- All the inhaling and retention kind of pranayams work wonders to improve your breathing capacity and so the oxygen level. Here are some excellent breathing practice everybody should do these regularly. Equal breathing try and see that you inhale slowly fully and exhale slowly fully and make your breath equal develop more awareness about this breathing. Do this atleast 30 rounds a day. We have 3 sets of muscles diaphragm intercoastal and clavicular.
Now when you inhale fully and exhale fully you are involving all the 3 sets of muscles equally. Second breathing exercise is clavicular breathing bring your arms here at the shoulder level inhale and bring your chest upwards push your chest upwards and breathe out and relax your chest relax your shoulders. So this type of a movement and breathing equally would help improvising your clavicular breathing. Third area is intercostal muscle area so try and keep your both the hand on the side and breathe in and expand your ribs from the side and breathe out and contract y our ribs from the side. This movement of rib would help you to increase the capacity of intercostal muscle by which you can improve the oxygen level.
Another pranayama is the exercise of diaphragm so do this diaphragmatic breathing where you are lying down your legs closer to your body and while inhaling you are bringing your abdomen little up and while exhaling push the abdomen little down inhale stomach up exhale stomach down go on doing this very easily atleast 30 rounds 2-3 times in a day. So here you have used all these 3 sets of muscles first you have developed these muscles and now you have used these for a complete inhalation and exhalation this should be done regularly. Another breathing technique is kumbhaka where you are inhaling and then holding your breath stopping your breath for sometime so this retention of breath really helps in opening up all the alveoli units in our lungs by which it helps in increasing the oxygen level into the blood.
The last exercise could be kapalbhati this kapalbhati really helps removing the toxins from the respiratory tract its an excellent kriya. Lesser the toxin more would be the oxygen absorption so here try and sit quietly start inhaling and exhaling, first understand that you have to suck the air from the nostril strongly and release the air strongly so it should be this sort of a movement 30 rounds and then taking a long breathe in ,it’s a beautiful technique to follow and it should be followed by everybody.
3) When we want to increase the oxygen level in our blood we have to take care of our diet also We should eat more iron rich food to improve our hemoglobin level. Spinach and all such green leafy vegetables then comes beans pulses legumes , beet and even food like raisins apricots pomegranate all these things should get place in our food. Less salt in your body would help oxygen level at kidney and blood. Another thing is drink sufficient water whenever you are thirsty drink water.
4) Chest expansion technique We should open up our chest and so here are certain asanas which we should do regularly. First wall stretch go to the wall spread your arms on the side and give go closer to the wall pressure it out when you do this movement at the wall this would expand your chest.
Second asana would be adhomukhaswanasana third is yastikasana forth trikonasana. These asanas will keep all the muscles involved in the respiration flexible. If the chest muscles are flexible and stretched it will help the chest in easy inhalation and exhalation and thereby increase the oxygen intake. Follow all these tips and it can help keeping your lung in good condition and what will happen, it would improve your oxygen level and above all keep your mind free from worry as the mind so is your health as the mind so is your breath so try and see that your mind is free from stress tension worry anxiety see that you think positive good see that you remain cheerful and happy and go ahead with your journey let there be any problems problems come to go they never stay it will go away nature is there to help us and not to destroy us have faith do your duty towards yourself and towards society and learn to live successfully.
